As we’ve outlined many times over the past 2 years, the pandemic and lockdowns seems to have created an unprecedented surge in crime.
The usual low-income areas were of course hardest hit, but the wealthier areas are also not immune. Reports of high-end retailers in California and New York being hit with flash-mob style robberies is almost a daily occurrence now. Many stores in the ultra-wealthy areas of San Francisco now keep their doors locked during business hours and have armed guards to only let in known customers.
That trend continued today with Missouri Rep. Cori Bush reporting that her car was hit with gunfire. Thankfully it happened while parked and nobody was injured, but a high-level official having their car sprayed with random gunfire is not a good sign .
If you remember, just a month ago we posted an article reporting on a House Democrat and Illinois Senate leader who were both carjacked in different cities within a 24 hour period.
It’s just more evidence that crime appears to be surging out of control despite the media trying to downplay it. Perhaps because the media was so outwardly supporting the “defund the police” movement in 2020 that now appears to have helped kick off this crime wave.
But it does beg the question, if our leaders can’t even avoid random gunfire and carjackers, how are the rest of us supposed to stay safe?
Rep. Cori Bush reportedly spends $130k a year on private security, yet still her car is riddled with bullets. For those of us who can’t afford six-figure private security, I suppose we’ll have to fend for ourselves.
